VELVET HIGHWAY CLUB NIGHT 05.02.10 (Review)
The Apothecary Bar is part of the Egg club in Kings Cross and tonight was host to the first night thrown by Aphrodite Entertainments (a new company with involvement from Laura London), an interactive rock n roll cirus called Velvet Highway.
Over 150 people packed into the venue for 6 hours of pure fun, on stage performances from Lydia Darling with a breathtaking hoop routine, there was also some great pole dancing from Panjea and another girl.
Throughout the performances the dj's kept the music pumping with everything from Motley Crue to Bauhaus and instead of people standing still and watching the acts they kept dancing, which was the whole point of creating a great atmosphere.
During the dancing Little Bo Freak mingled with them on stilts with her snake and Sophie dished out free shotsof JD.
The only time the dancing stopped was for a special appearence with Morrigan Hel from Nemhain who danced with fire!!!
All in all a great night, got to meet loads of new people and had fun!!!

We will email you with your raffle ticket numbers. Boston Arms have kindly let us use their venue to orgnaise a phenomenal night of Music and Cabaret to raise money for Haiti.Haiti has been hit by a devastating earthquake that has seen an already improverished and deprived country brought to it's knees. It has not been given the help it needs with any great speed although finally aid is reaching those who really need it.All the people involved in this gig have given their time, products and performances for free.
EVERY SINGLE PENNY MADE IS GOING TO HAITI.The kindness, speed and help that each person has already given is phenomenal and we hope that this will prove to be a wonderful night that will bring in a lot of money to help those people who need it so desperately.Although initially we did say that money would be going to UNICEF we have now decided to give all the money to Action Aid as that will ensure that ALL funds go directly to the Haitians. As the ONE movement state themselves - Where you live should not dictate weather you live.

LAURA LONDONS XMAS SHOW @ BIG RED 18.12.09 (Gig Review)
FIVE SECOND RULE
AMBER AND SAM
LYDIA DARLING
SOPHIE LANDI
Big Red, Holloway Road 18.12.09
SOPHIE LANDI
After an introduction from tonights host, Laura London, Sophie takes to the stage for
another outstanding fire performance, how she does some of those things like running
the flames down her arms then blowing them out without being rushed to hospital burns
unit never fails to impress me!!!
After the fire comes the angle grinder, always visually impressive and slightly dangerous.
LYDIA DARLING
Laura then introduces Lydia, she comes on with a blow torch and lights a cigar which
she then puts out on her tongue!!!Her next performance still remains one of the best acts i have ever seen with a flaming hula hoop which she spins around her neck!!
AMBER & SAM
A special one off performance from Nemhains Sam and Amber with a unique version of
'Santa Baby' in the style of a drunken/stoned female singer (who said Amy Winehouse??).For the next 10 minutes we were treated to one of the best comic routines i have seen for a long time.
I must mention Sam's awesome backing vocals and ambers great improvisations.
FIVE SECOND RULE
Just the most explosive, fun, entertaining rock n roll band around full stop.Starting with 'Sunday Roast' an odd title for a catchy sing-a-long song that gets the place rocking. From this point on its just a non stop party, then we get to 'Clusterfuck' a moody song with a message about the current situation with soldiers fighting in afganistan, the weird thing is that the song works on all levels!
Next up is their cover of 'Word Up', this can mean one thing only...."sexy girl time",
and we have Claudia De La Creme onstage dressed as mrs santa claus and a great
striptease follows!
The song 'Malmo' gets nailed next with its borderline heavy metal riffs and thats
followed by 'Shadows' yet another great song.
The set ends with the song everybody likes 'Ambition' and Claudia and Laura jump up for
some dancing and a quick magic trick, the perfect end to a perfect set!
Lydia then returns to the stage for a classic burlesque striptease and throws her own
branded dollars into the audience.

SPIDERBABY,LAURA LONDON'S MAGIC & BURLESQUE SHOW,AL.B.DAMNED Live At The Gaff 17.10.09 (Gig Review)
SPIDERBABY
LAURA LONDON
LITTLE BO FREAK
AMANDA MAE STEEL
LYDIA DARLING
AL.B.DAMNED
SLINKY SPARKLES
The Gaff, Holloway Road 17.10.09
Ladies and gentlemen roll up for the biggest night of rock n roll entertainment of
2009, to say that this show was amazing is an major understatement.
AL.B.DAMNED
After the show was opened by a traditional burlesque act from Slinky Sparkles, Laura
London took to the stage to introduce the Bournemouth gothic shock and roll band who
perform a superb set fuelled with humour and horror. We may be in Wednesday 13 territory but this has real edge and originality to it, the songs win over the audience almost straight away and vocalist Joey screams and sings his way through songs destined for future greatness, armed with a new drummer the band who used to be known as the Texas Drag Queen Massacre will make a big noise in 2010.
LAURA LONDON
After the rock n roll comes the burlesque & magic set introduced by Laura.
First to the stage is Lydia Darling who stubs a cigar out on her tongue and then
performs the most amazing flaming hula hoop routine, it was awesome!
Next is Amanda Mae Steel who performs a traditional strip but adds blood, all very dark
and gothic and a huge cheer at the end.
Little Bo Freak had already freaked out members of staff and the audience before she
gets to the stage due to the snake coiled around her body, her performance was
outstanding and quite breathtaking especially when she started fire breathing as well.
Then Laura takes the stage with a series of "How does she do it" tricks, e get it all
from turning flowers into a wand, a quick change of dresses in 2 seconds flat!
A guy comes on stage and gets a cake of fire and his legs sawn off (well not really they were still attached) and laura finds the easiest way to solve a rubiks cube by simply throwing it in the air! What was really good about watching her was the fact that this was on a rock stage with
everyone standing in front, no fancy tables and chairs, magic right in your face and
you still couldnt see how she did it!!!
