Finlands 'Rocking Corpses' were born at the end of 2007 out of Tony's passion for all things horror, death metal, blues, injected with some very dark humour. Some months later Laze got also excited about the idea and joined the project on vocals. Eventually, in 2009 two demo songs were recorded and finally in 2011 the first full album "Rock 'n' Rott" was finished and released a year later.  

By 2017 Mike and Pete had their own project called Grit going on and needed a guitarist and a vocalist. Tony and Laze joined and very soon realized that the feel of Grit was very similar with Rocking Corpses and the band were "re-animated".

Collaboration of writing new songs was only held back by constant 'Spinal Tap-esque' problems with drummers, finally the issue was resolved and the band was complete.

Once we get passed the intro the rockin fun starts, great riffs epic death metal vocals which are shared with a Danzig style clean vocal, awesome mix of Death and Rock 'N' Roll.

The blues influence is present with 'Buried', one of those great riffs that just bounce along.

After another full on on rocker, comes 'Rocking Corpses II', very much in the Danzig area again, solid riffs, fun lyrics and a killer guitar solo.

'Drinking With The Dead' an acoustic C&W tune! Followed by another? well sort of because the Ghost of Johnny Cash is very much coming through my speakers and then the song explodes to some seriously heavy riffing!

We end with some full on Thrash/Speed Metal and 'War For Doom' completes a very enjoyable album with clever mix of styles and vocal work.

Having reviewed their new ep last month complete with the usual mini bio etc  (Look Whos Stalking Review) I shall get straight to the album.

A little symphonic music introduces us to 'Good To Be Bad', the haunting keyboard sound remains throughout the song, its so simple yet somehow it's understated appearence holds you in its own right.The song itself is slow, powerfull and the vocals have a raw growl to them.Then right at the end comes a killer solo to end of one helluva opener!

'Scream Come True' is a pretty straight forward rocker, reminiscent of "Raise Your Fist" era Alice Cooper.

Picking up the pace next with 'Drink The Blood', a hint of good old rock n roll lurks here, some really solid pedal work from Pip, great backing vocals and this one really drives along with its sing-a-long style.
Another instatntly recognisable solo is then perfectly executed but then the music drops out for a near tortured vocal full of emotion, finally the band join in to close.

Great bass playing kicks off 'Home Is Where The Haunt Is', this is another slower paced song, quite typical of the horror rock style, this one stalks the speakers with menace.

'Look Whos Stalking' and this one sure packs a punch, it's faster and heavier than previous songs, definatley like a jam session between the Misfits and Motorhead, add some riff loaded guitar work and a shout it out loud backing and this is one killer song.

Staying with the previous vibe comes 'Exorsister', not quite as furious, but has all the swagger and more of those infectious backing vocals.

Oh wow 'Modified' is really different, the vocal effect reminds me of Corey Taylor is his darker spoken moments, this is a dark and werid gothic monster, slow and anthemic treatment from the drums and guitar and some clever multi tracked vocal styles.

Some nice hints of Thrash Metal in 'Never Sleep Again', punchy riffs and some frantic drumming absolutley sledgehammer this one through my speakers.
Towards the end it gets weird, first with something that sounds like its from the soundtrack to clice barkers Candyman, then some strange vocal chants.

Some space related samples, awesome little synth pattern and near gothic guitar picking and 'Life In Space' presents itself as another dark, neo gothic downbeat song.
If the Peter Murphy vocal delivery wasn't enough to behold it gets the weird treatment with some f/x as well.

Relaxed and chilled as I was after that last song, my ears get blown up by 'End Of The Line' more of that upbeat horror rock delivered with real passion and understanding of the genre.

'Creeping Beauty Part 2' starts off dangerously like a ballad, fortunatley that doesn't last long and it picks up, but I have to say I do find it a tad average, it's mid paced but doesn't seem to go anywhere.What happend to Part One? Ahh just remembered it's an old TDQM song :-)

The fact that 'You Are What We Eat' includes a lyric that says "welcome to the jungle" seems to indicate a touch of Guns N Roses and you know the overall glam/metal/rock n roll feel of this song could fit in with the classic era of that band.

Bringing the mood right down next with 'Mommy', a melancolic and moody gothic tune, that candyman sound is back as well, another stand out song thats for sure.

'Possessed (Acoustic)' well not that acoustic as there is synth on it, the passionate and tortured vocal delivery is first class.

Finally 'Chopping Mall (Remake)' another old TDQM song given the ABD treatment, this one adds a little more agression with the guitar and is a nice way to end a brilliant and well executed album.

Its been a while but the Bournemouth horror rock monsters are back, but this time it's a new set up and a new sound.
Essentially now operating as a duo of founder member and Texas Drag Queen Massacre mastermind Joey aka Al B Damned and "ABD" drummer Pip Samson, the pair have been friends for a long time and always worked and wrote together.
When the band split in 2013 it did look like the end, even though they left an ep as a farewell, so not quite the final nail in the coffin afterall.

However friends stay together and they decided to get back to what they do best and revamp the music and in February 2014 and "one off" song appeared having been based on what the fans wanted to hear.
Perhaps worth mentioning here, that when it comes to fan and band loyality and resepct you would be hard pushed to find a better example.

This inspired the ghoulish duo to create a kick starter project to fund an album that would feature many previous musicians from the various bands connected with them and perhaps be a new beginning for a darker and heavier sound.

And so it came to pass that the next step to get to the album would be let out of the pit under Al's house.

The pair were helped by former "TDQM" guitarist Alexz, "Beneath Dead Waves" guitarist Doug and Pips cohort in the "deathcorecomedymetal" noize merchants aAnd? Dan also helping with guitarwork.
Finally this online EP has a remix by Deefa D.De'Ville and also includes a little video of Joey and Pip hard at work.

This also serves as a taster for an album expected soon which also features some guitar playing from James McIlroy (Cradle Of Filth/Chaosanct), I am expecting great things.

Finally befre we get to some words on the music a quick mention that the package includes a short behind the scenes video clip for the promo video of 'Look Whos Stalking'.

So we kick off with 'Look Whos Stalking' and this one sure packs a punch, it's faster and heavier than previous songs, still unmistakably "Al" but as if fronting Motorhead circa 1979, add one screaming riff loaded guitar solo and you cant help but say that they are back with death on their mind, coz this songs kills!

Next song 'Hyde & Seek' has more of the old sound, classic horror rock guitar, but the pace is more horror punk as is part of the vocal delivery, it has a "Sneer" to it, then the chorus is sung in a more harmonic way and that dual style really adds to this.

A total change now for the recorded in the studio as a live take on an acoustic version of the old TDMQ song 'Bats Of A Feather', it's a much more downbeat version than the original with a near melancholic vocal, I like it, it gives a new perspective on the song.

Finally the 'warhead Remix' of the title track, very much one for the dance crowd, this industrial take is intresting, personally I would have used a different drum track, this one is a little too basic and robotic, would have worked well if it was more of a complex beat or at least a higher BPM count, the rest of the synth sounds and samples work okay.Not sure it fits the bands overall concept but I always like it when musicians go outside the (coffin) box.

Mr.Lordi, the captain of Scare Force One, and his crew are once again ready for take-off. The plane has been fuelled, the seat belts are malfunctioning and you can look forward to a solid hour of pure turbulence when the new album sees the light of day on November 3rd. “Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein” is the first single and has jetted off to stores and onto the airwaves this week.

According to Mr. Lordi the material on the new record is more experimental than before. It’s not a theme or concept record, per se, but there is a red thread that runs through the songs.

Says Mr Lordi of the album, “The overall sound of the band is more modern too I think, and we’ve tried out some new tricks here and there. But, the basic Lordi building blocks are still present, so there’s no shortage of melodic hooks in the songs. The first single, “Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein”, is really quite representative of where the band is right now.”

In addition to its sound, the band has also tweaked its outward appearance. The new costumes, designed and built by Mr. Lordi, will be debuted at the record release show.

“I just really wanted to make the band’s colour scheme more unified than it has been and I think it worked out quite nicely. Hella and Mana have probably changed the most, what with the trip to the hair salon for a new dye job, but I think they look really great.”

“We wanted to make this record in Finland, with a Finnish producer,” says Mr. Lordi. “We finally managed to get Mikko to work with us, which is great. Mikko has come up as a potential producer for the band on several previous occasions, but it just wasn’t possible before. We’ve had no reason to regret this decision up ‘til now and are extremely happy with the album.”

“Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein” is out now and “Scare Force One” is released here November 3rd.

So the new single, well its a lot rawer than previous stuff, not as melodic and anthemic.
Has a chunky guitar riff and a keyboard hook that cuts through the mix, catchy chorus as expected and some inspired "rocky horror" style female backing vocals, throw in a short but blistering guitar solo.
You know this could almost be Wednesday 13 from a few years back.
So Mr.Lordi and crew are back, hell yeah!!!!

Messer Chups is an experimental band from St.Petersburg, Russia. The band was founded by Oleg Gitarkin who had previously performed with Oleg Kostrow under the name of Messer für Frau Müller. Messer Chups is often considered a "spin-off" band of Messer für Frau Müller. The band was originally a duo of Gitarkin on bass guitar and Annette Schneider who played the synths. In period 2000-2002 Messer Chups consists of Gitarkin and Igor Vdovin on Synth.

In 2003, the producer of Messer Chups and head of homelabel Solnze Records, Oleg Tarasov, invited the world famous theremin player, Lydia Kavina, to join them. Together they have released several albums and reworked their previous releases. In 2005, Messer Chups became a duo consisting of Gitarkin and ZombieGirl on bass. In 2007, they became a trio, with drummer Denis "Kashey" Kuptzov from the famous band, Leningrad.
In 2008, they changed their drummer to Alexander Belkok, and Alexander Skvortzov became their vocalist.

Messer Chups' music often features a foundation of surf drums on which they build collages of samples from odd sources, like jazz, east European animation soundtracks, and American B-pictures. On top of that they lay guitar solos and theremin.

Sounding like a mixture of the "Chantays" and Dick Dale the majority of these tracks are classic surf/rockabilly instrumentals.

'Rockin Zombie' has a great vocal sounding like vampira, also some great sax playing in the mix.

'Dracula Hates Photoshoots' is a great fun song and to be honest the whole album is fun!

Snow Whites Poison Bite - Feat Dr Gruesome & The Gruesome Gory Horror Show (CD Review)

Formed in Finland in 2007 as a simple “screamo” band, by singer/songwriter Allan Cotterill a.k.a Jeremy Thirteenth SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE has evolved into something much more than that. The band released two EP’s under a small Finnish label, Poko Records.
Breaking ground as one of Finland’s very first “screaming, hardcore” bands and quickly gathered a large following, winning fans over with their commitment to delivering intensity on every level.

After signing a recording contract with Sound of Finland’s Hyeena Trax in 2010, they released their long awaited debut album, The Story of Kristy Killings, which was sold worldwide. The album served as a reintroduction to their fans, revealing a far more conceptual appeal and attitude. with more of a horror-rock style . Reflected in not only their appearance but their riffs as well, rapidly becoming Finnish rock icons, with all eyes on them.

As most bands do they underwent a drastic lineup change in early May 2011. Leaving band-founder, vocalist Allan Cotterill, as the only original member. Determined to keep his fans happy and the band alive, Allan went to work, searching for new members to create a new and improved band.

Today, the bands high-energy line up consists of vocalist Allan “Jeremy Thirteenth” Cotterill, guitarist Tuomo “Tupi” Raisanen, bassist Hannu “Bobo” Saarimaa and drummer Niko "Hoker Dine" Hyttinen. The new, tailor-made team has recorded their second studio album creating their highly anticipated Victory Records debut full-length album, titled "Featuring: Dr.Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show".
This album features a guest vocal from Misfits legend Michael Graves, and they may be the main attraction to this for many as the misfits are currently touring and there is the much anticipate Danzig/Misfits reunion.

Kicking off with a typical horror introduction keyboard/spoken word piece that drags on a bit too long befre going into some sixties inspired music.

What follows is an albums worth of a screamo band desperatly trying to be Horror Punk, without any understanding of the genre.
Basically its rubbish, even the mock 50's ballad 'Zombie Romance' with Graves guesting cant quite hit the mark - even when it kicks in.

Sorry guys but if you are "Finlands Rock Icons" as your record company wants us to believe then that must make 69 Eyes living gods!

Al was of course the leader of Texas Drag Queen Massacre since its inception in November 2003 until its untimely death in 2009.
TDQM had built up a solid worldwide reputation as a major force in horror punk/rock and were equals to that american phenomenon know as Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13.

No sooner had the band finished and Al was back writing a solo album and soon found local musicians to back him, it became clear that far from being a one off that this was about to turn into a full blown band.

They made their debut in London at the Burlesque & Rock N Roll Show last October then followed it with a uk tour and released single Katch Em & Kill Em.

After more gigs and an increasing demand from fans the band went into the studio to record their debut album.


A new version of 'Katch Em & Kill Em' opens the album with the introduction of "Ladies and Gentlemen and freaks" immediatley kicking into a high voltage rocker with an anthemic sing-a-long chorus that simply slays every time.

A neat riff greets the ears to 'From Transylvania With Love' it keeps up the pace from start to finish, great lyrics, driving drums and great backing vocals complimenting Al's lead.

'So Far So Bad' is one of those sleazy, bouncy rockers that gets the feet tapping, throw in a couple of B-Movie samples and tongue in cheek lyrics and you have a near perfect song!

'Better Left Undead' starts with a sample from a trailer for an old zombie movie.The song treads generic horror punk themes and with its gang vocal backing adds a hint of trash to produce yet another great tune.

'Lust For Death' is a fucking monster of a song, with guest bass playing from extreme metal legends Bezerker's Ed Lacey, this is pure metal at its finest, agressive with a melodic chorus, screaming guitars and definitive drumming just move this along at a pace that stuns, and a face ripping solo that shreds with the best thrown in, what more do you need?

'Hate 2 Love You' is the one i still cant get my head around, there is nothing wrong with it but it just does'nt do anything for me, i just cant find anything to latch onto.


'Dead On My Feet' deals with the Zombie Apocalypse from the Zombies point of view, it starts with a sample from the trailer for 'Dawn Of The Dead' then armed with some awesome lyrics like "These dead white eyes that rotting skin, No recollection of where I’ve been,
I woke up in this cemetery and I can’t remember a thing, Am I going insane?".
Just brilliant in every way.

'Id Take Your Life' has some nasty metal riffs mixed with some great vocals and once again its as catchy as hell!

Oh wow, some superb acoustic guitar coming out of the speakers for 'Everything Can Burn' and Al's vocal is quite (dare i use the word?) beautiful.
This is a dark melancholic ballad that cries for sympathy but gets none even with lines such as "My family they betrayed me, Couldn’t be what they wanted me to be, All I ever got was hurt,But everything can burn".

The modern horror references in 'Play Dead For Me' make a refreshing change from the usual namechecking of 1950's legends.
This is the consumate modern horror song delivered with precision and perfection.
The guest voices at the end add some bad taste humor : "I like my women like i like my ice cream, cold and stored in the freezer!!!".

Oh hell yeah a real fuck you rocker called 'Muthafucker' think this could be many peoples facebook status "Well I can smile cause you are finally gone,Goodbye, Good riddance,
See you later, fuck you, fuck off".
Some awesome high powered backing on this neo rock n roll number and a solo worthy of Brian Setzer anyday!

'Pretty When Your Dead' is almost the sister song to 'Play Dead For Me', there is a touch of the Corey Taylor's on the chorus and musically not a million miles away from Stone Sour.There are some intresting timing changes and a few differing vocal styles thrown in as well.

'Darker Side Of Me', got to use that word "beautiful" again to describe Al's vocals here on yet another dark ballad as he sings "Something tells me to do the bad things that I do, There’s a devil on my shoulder and no angel to argue", the orchestration that also backs the song is outstanding.
Then half way through a rhythm not unlike Marilyn Manson's 'Beautiful People' kicks in with actual police report recordings from the murder trials connected with Manson.
Returning at the end to the slower mood, its a superb song and one which i could imagine Alice Cooper singing.

Finally a bonus song with a new version of the TDQM classic 'Queen Of Halloween', its slightly heavier and has another face ripping solo thrown in, and furious drumming to blow the speakers, a perfect end to a perfect album.

Now you can quote me on this and to hell with the consequences...."THIS IS THE ALBUM THE MURDERDOLLS SHOULD HAVE MADE!!!".

This is original, well produced, brilliantly arranged music that puts Al B Damned in the number one position not only for horror rock but without a doubt one of the best albums you will hear this year, and one which you will be playing for many years to come.

So the Murderdolls for anyone who doesnt know were formed in 2001 when Wednesday joined Joey from Slipknot in his side project band the Rejects who then changed their name.
After releasing as EP they then released to critical acclaim the album 'Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls', though it has to be said that all but 2 of the songs were new, the rest being remakes from Wednesdays previous bands Frankenstein Drag Queens and Maniac Spider Trash.
They rode high until January 2004 when Joey returned to Slipknot for the awesome Vol 3 album and Wednesday going solo eventually releasing the superb Transylvania 90210 album in 2005.

Then in february of this year it was revealed that the duo had reunited and were writing a new album together and putting together a new line up.
The attitude seems to be "piss people off and fuck the norm" and a need to get away from the horror rock formula which wednesday had made so popular and excelled at.


Album kicks off with a Marilyn Manson styled intro which then goes straight into 'Chapel Of Blood' and its a pretty average rock track, nothing that has that wow factor.

'Bored Till Death' is more in the style we came to love with Wednesday's solo stuff and has the obligatory use of the word "Muthafucker" !

'Drug Me To Hell' features Motley Crue's Mick Mars and as you would perhaps expect it has a good old Crue feel with that broody, dark edge that Wednesday brings.

'Nowhere' is the first song that has that Murderdolls feel, its catchy, anthemic and has a cool little riff running through it.

It may be punchy and have the generic lyric requirements for horror rock but 'Summertime Suicide' just comes over as a Wednesday 13 album track, it ticks the boxes but does'nt set them on fire.The same is true of 'Death Valley Superstars' amd the dissapointing 'My Dark Place Alone' which was also released as the single last month.

Mick Mars returns for 'Blood Stained Valentine' another classic Wednesday 13 styled song, but this one rocks, moody with great lyrics, good backing vocals and a great solo.

'Pieces Of You' im guessing Joey had a lot of involvement with this one as it echoes Slipknot's 'Before I Forget' with added horror punk hand claps.

Some great guitarwork greets 'Homicide Drive' throw in some dark vocals then screw it up by saying "supercallfragalistiexpcalidocious", what is this 5th grade lyric writing???

"I got nothing to lose, i got nothing to prove", okay fair enough Wednesday but if this sums you up on the song 'Rock N Roll Is All I Got' then im guessing you just dont care that much about what you are putting out and expecting people to buy.

'Nothings Gonna Be Alright' returns to formula with trademark riffs and drum beats.

Now the possibility of the band covering a Groucho Marx classic from the 1932 classic 'Horse Feathers' would have been inspired, but alas 'Whatever You Got, Im Against It' is an original song, its a light pop rocker with a 70's glam feel, could imagine the Sweet doing this.

Finally we come to 'Hello, Goodbye, Die' its an in your face rocker, that ends the album on a high!

Well what can i say im a fan have been since the FDQFP13 days, but this is so average and dissapointing, the talent is there the ability is there but the whole thing seems like a bad Wednesday solo album, the original album still stands as a classic and my advice is go put that on the player and leave this alone.

This is a limited edition 2 track cd sampler for the upcoming debut album to be titled "The Darker Side Of Me".

Formerly known as the Texas Drag Queen Massacre Al's crew have been tearing up the uk for a few years now with numerous releases and amazing live shows, this essentially was set to be a solo project but has now evolved into a band in its own right.

First song opens with a mock live introduction before kicking into a full on horror/punk/metal/goth rocker with a catchy as hell chorus and great punchy guitar.Al's voice is like wednesday 13's but with a rawer edge and yes the music has that whole FDQFP13 feel but it has a metal feel to it and retains originality.

The second song is more of the same, until half way through when it slows down and Al does some great harmony singing,there is a touch of Motorhead in there as well.

Basically 2 songs just aint enough so lets hope we get the album soon.
